Maurice Eldon "Stinky" Pew

Maurice Pew Obituary

Maurice Eldon Pew, or "Stinky" as he was known to all who loved him, was born on September 25, 1925 to Frank and Alice Pew in Bolckow, Missouri. Maurice graduated from Central High School, St. Joe, Missouri in 1943.

Stinky is survived by his beloved wife Naomi Nina Pew. They were blessed with three sons, Charles Estrella, Frank Dunn Pew and Sterling Maurice Pew; and two daughters, Carol Estrella and Nanette Snyder; 14 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary Ellen (Peg) Taylor; his beloved cat, Poki Pew. His four very special "Buds," Charlene, Jerry, Edward and Sharon.

Stinky retired from the Alaska Laborers' Union in 1986 with prior service in the United States Marine Corps, from 1943 through the Korean War. During World War II he served with G Co. 3rd Bn., 28th Marines, 5th Division and he also served in the Korean War with the 1st Division. Stinky made the landing on Iwo Jima, February 17, 1945 and had the honor of being present at the Flag Raising.

Stinky passed away at the age of 81 on September 6, 2007 at home with his family.

To have known him was to love him, for he was kind and giving. He lived his life to the highest degree. He loved his wife and family so much. He always put others before himself. He will be missed.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sat. Sept. 22, 2007, at 12:00 p.m., at 25570 E. Bolton Road, Veneta, OR. Please come and join us in our "send off."
