Norman Woolley Obituary

A Celebration of Life will be held from 1-4 p.m. for Norman Woolley on Sat., Nov. 13th, 2010 at the Campbell Community Center located at 155 High St., Eugene, Oregon. Norman passed away October 16th at the age of 61 following a long battle with cancer.

Born Jan. 27, 1949 to Oliver Ray & Marion Woolley of Veneta, he graduated in 1967 from Elmira High School. He married Patricia Hewitt on April 25, 1980.

He was president of Cascade Carbide, Inc. for over 25 years. His applied expertise in custom tool design and problem-solving skills were highly valued by colleagues and associates throughout the secondary wood industry.

He was an avid hunter & enjoyed hunting with his sons, family and friends. He was also a proficient bow hunter and hand-crafted long bows and accessories. He enjoyed working in metal and made many folding and hunting knives from his own designs.

He treasured time with his family above all else, especially the annual family vacation spent on the banks of the Metolius River at Camp Sherman, Oregon. He enjoyed salmon fishing with family in the Fall and trips to the mountains and coast. He travelled with his wife to Alaska, Hawaii and Mexico. He was a life-long student of history and was inspired by a recent trip to Washington, D.C.

He will be remembered as a loving world-class man to his large extended family and circle of friends.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia; 2 sons: Tyler and his wife, Shelley of Chico, California and Ryan Woolley of Eugene; and 2 sisters: Louise (Rick) Guerrero of Veneta and Anne (Shawn) Sheldon of Creswell. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 nieces, 1 nephew and his brother, Allen Woolley.

I'll always remember Norman as a boy with a mop of light hair, a huge smile and the tolerence to put up with a little girl. Gone to soon, my heart is heavy with your loss.

Our thoughts and prayer go out to all the family. We are so saden by the loss for you Louise, so sudden after Allen's fight with cancer and all you have gone through with both your brothers. Know they both walk with you daily and keep the wonderful memories, love and warmth with you each day for what they have given you through the years. Memories is what holds us all together when we lose one of our family and loved ones. Smile each time you remember them. Love and remembering Norm always in our hearts.

Norm has been a friend since 1959. We went to grade and high school together, and then to LCC. Even after years going our different ways, when we met, it was just like the old days. I always admired his talent, humor, and understanding. My best to his family.

I will miss you always my beloved brother...you taught me so many things, to ride a bike, climb a tree, throw a knife, drive a go-cart, a car, how to box, just to name a few......I will miss sharing a laugh with you.....your laugh made every one smile.......
