WEST ALEXANDRIA — Mark D. Unger, 72, of West Alexandria, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 3, 2024, at Hospice of Dayton.
He was born April 10, 1952, in Dayton, to the late Paul and Leona Unger. Mark was a 1970 graduate of Twin Valley South High School and earned his Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from General Motors Institute in Michigan. He worked at General Motors and Delphi in Vandalia for 40years; and later worked at the Honda Company for several years. He was a life-long member of the Salem Lutheran Church in West Alexandria. He enjoyed farming the family farm for many years; and dearly loved spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of almost 40 years, Vicki Unger of West Alexandria; daughter Kristen Morris of Germantown; daughter Megan (Jacob) Baldwin of Troy; son Jacob (Whitney) Unger of West Alexandria; grandchildren Annie Morris, Cy Morris, Zayne Morris, Nolah Baldwin, Vaida Baldwin, Brynlee Unger and Cooper Unger; brother Paul (Jan) Unger of Fredericksburg, Texas; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Jean and Bill Deleranko; nieces Katie (Mike) Kerul and Kim (Ben) Krebs; nephew Kyle Deleranko; and several great-nieces and -nephews.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, Oct. 13, from 3-5 p.m. at Salem Lutheran Church, 70 E. Dayton Street, West Alexandria. A memorial service for Mark will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 14, also at the church with Pastor Daniel Mershon officiating. Inurnment will follow at Sugar Grove Cemetery, West Alexandria.
Gard Funeral Home & Cremation Services, West Alexandria, is assisting the family with arrangements.
