Arthur Brucato Obituary

Arthur J. Brucato, Jr.
"Loving father and grandfather"
It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Arthur Brucato Jr., who left this world on March 3, 2025, at the age of 77. Art was a man of deep devotion, boundless generosity, and a warmth that made everyone feel welcome. His smile lit up a room, and his laughter was contagious, filling the air with joy wherever he went.
Born in Waterbury, CT, on May 20, 1947, to the late Art and Connie Brucato, Sr., Art grew up alongside his beloved sister, the late Barbara McDonald. He graduated from Cheshire Academy in 1965 and attended Sacred Heart University. He proudly joined the U.S. Naval Reserves, going on active duty from 1968–1969, where he took part in naval operations aboard the USS Hammerberg with NATO forces in the North Atlantic and Mediterranean.
In 1970, Art married his beloved wife, Patye, and together they built a home and raised two daughters in Middlebury, CT. The times that he cherished most were sharing laughs, stories and beautiful meals that Patye cooked from the gardens they tended together.
Art dedicated himself to the family business, Meyers Supply, Inc., including the expansion of the business with two retail stores. His strong work ethic led him to become President and CEO until his retirement in 2007. A respected leader in his field, he earned the Hall of Fame honors at the CT Food Association and also served as Chairman of the Board.
After Patye passed, Art moved to Sarasota, Florida. There he spent his days making dear new friends, swimming, watching sunsets, playing tennis and creating art. He also found love again when he met his beloved girlfriend, Janice Marie. They were devoted to one another.
Above all, Art cherished his family. He is survived by his daughters Marni and Tricia, his grandson Koby, his girlfriend Janice, his 2 brothers-in-law, Robert H. Knapp, Jr. and his wife Debra of Middlebury and Gregory S. Knapp and his wife Michelle of Prospect; his eight nieces and nephews, and godchildren. He was predeceased by his brother-in-law Vincent McDonald.
Though we will miss him deeply, we will carry his love and memory in our hearts always.
Arrangements: A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in his honor on Saturday, May 17, 2025, at 10 a.m. at St. John of the Cross Church, 1263 West Street, Middlebury. Everyone is asked to meet directly at the church. Burial with military honors will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Waterbury. Brookside Memorial/The Albini Family Funeral Home & Crematory, 200 Benson Road, Middlebury has been entrusted with Art's services.

We met Art through Janice a couple years ago while a guest of Janis in Sarasota, Florida. We were both impressed with Art as a kind and gentle soul with a generous and calm aura that made us feel welcome and comfortable at our meeting him as strangers. His love for Janis, family and life was evident and we feel lucky to have known him and called him our friend.
