Frederick Farrell Obituary

Frederick William Farrell
Frederick William Farrell, Jr., 79, husband of Linda Marie Fahey Farrell, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 31, 2025. Born in Springfield, MA, he was a son of the late Frederick William Farrell, Sr. and Alice Ruth Moriarty Farrell.
Fred retired from teaching history and coaching at Pomperaug High School. He developed a love for soccer while playing at Fitchburg State University. He used his knowledge to coach both the boys and girls soccer teams and directed a youth soccer camp during the summers. As with many high school coaches, Fred was not limited to soccer. He also coached boys golf and girls softball. When he was not coaching, Fred was an avid fan of all Boston sports teams and enjoyed playing golf.
In addition to his wife, Fred is survived by two sons, Tim Farrell (Lori Ann) and Patrick Farrell (Karen); a daughter, Kelly Amadon (Richard); six grandchildren, Tim Farrell, Jr., Chris Farrell (Annie), Ryan Cathlyn Amadon, Jack Amadon, Julia Farrell, and Jake Farrell; a brother, William Farrell; and two sisters, Laureen Lappe and Patricia Maurer. In addition to his parents, Fred was preceded in death by his brother, Kenneth Farrell.
A Celebration of Life will be planned at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a local youth soccer club or a charity of one's choice.
