Amy Schmidt-Lorenz Obituary

Amy Lynn Schmidt-Lorenz was a dearly loved wife, sister, daughter, stepmother, aunt, and friend. She passed away the morning of August 5th, 2022, at her and her husband's home in Loveland, Colorado. She was 53 years old. Amy loved nature, horses, and her family. She is remembered for her smile, for her warmth and love, and for being able to make friends anywhere she went. She was someone who was always there, through thick and thin, for everyone around her. She was the sunshine of so many lives. In addition to the support she always offered people, she also inspired people to follow their own dreams and helped them realize those dreams. Amy herself dreamt of starting a bed and breakfast or her own bakery someday - the legacy of Schmidt's Bakery. Although she was not able to see that dream realized during her lifetime, her passion was contagious and her family will never forget her dreams. In 2012 Amy and Dave Lorenz met for the first time again, having known each other back in grade school. The two of them quickly fell in love; they married in 2017 in a mountaintop ceremony that brought their families together and gave us all an opportunity to share their love and joy. That's what Amy did: she brought people together. She was the heart of any room she was in. In more recent years, Amy and Dave made a home together in Loveland. Amy was able to live with her horses, living on a beautiful farm just like she always wanted. Amy was preceded in death by her father, Harry Schmidt, and is survived by her loving husband Dave Lorenz and his family, her mother Charlotte Schmidt, her sisters Paula Latchaw and Cheryl Lockhart, their spouses and families, and her horse Blue. She died outside in the morning air feeding the birds, close to her horses, donkeys, and chickens. In place of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to The Cloud Foundation, a wild horse and burro rescue here in Colorado: https://www. thecloudfoundation.org A celebration of life will be held September 10th at 3 pm at the Kleber residence in Berthoud. Amy will be dearly missed, though her family knows that now she is riding Barbie along the trails, through the trees, through the glorious mountains.

I am so sorry. I had seen her in July when I delivered product to her. She was always so joyful. I will miss her beautiful smile. My love and prayers go out to all of you.

I'm so sorry to hear this. I worked with Amy at Nursing Options in Fort Collins, and also delivered wedding cakes for Schmidt's Bakery! I haven't seen nor heard from her in years, but I've thought of her often. My sincere condolences.
