Carl Sheldon

1940 - 2021

Carl Edward Sheldon peacefully passed from this life on February 14, 2021 from complications due to leukemia and a long struggle with peripheral neuropathy. Carl was born May 17, 1940 in Denver, CO to Matthew and Hazel (Tolin) Sheldon, the youngest of three children. He spent his teenage years in Mitchell, NE and graduated from Mitchell High School 1958. Carl worked for a television repair business in Scottsbluff, NE before returning to Colorado in 1962 with his young bride and new baby, to begin working for Great Western Sugar in Fort Morgan. In 1971, Carl moved his family to Loveland, CO and began work at Eastman Kodak, retiring in 1996. Carl was an inventor at heart and had the ability to fabricate or fix just about anything. He loved to make all kinds of things; especially, new things out of those used for other functions. Carl also loved to camp in Estes Park in the summer. He particularly liked the mountain silhouettes when the sun came up in the morning. He was a free thinker, and a mechanical and electronical problem solver. Carl valued time with friends and neighbors and had enjoyable memories making connections over ham radios, RC glider flying, sailing Hobie Cats, and antique car projects. Carl is survived by his sons Lonnie (Andrea) and Scott (Shannon), grandchildren Alayna, Brody, Kelly Anna, Gwendolyn, Jonathan (Corey) and great grand-daughter Caroline, his brother Matt, and many beloved nieces and nephews. The family gives special thanks to Lee Rosen (caregiver, roommate, and friend). Carl was preceded in death by his parents, wife Marilyn, son Troy, and sister Alma. A Celebration of Life is planned at God's Country Cowboy Church in west Loveland on Saturday, February 27, 2021 at 11:00AM.
