Phyllis Gebhardt Obituary

Phyllis Jane Allen Gebhardt died on October 4, 2017 at Alta Vita Memory Care Center in Longmont, surrounded by her large family, the loving caregivers at Alta Vita, and the wonderful Agape Hospice caregivers. The ultimate love story of Paul and Phyllis began in 1950 whn she met Paul on a double date (not with each other!) while Phyllis was attending the University of Iowa and Paul was attending St. Abrose College. They married 65+ years ago and have seven children, eight grandchildren, and ten great grandchildren. She was the wife of Paul E Gebhardt, Mother of:Joe (Jacque) Gebhardt of Loveland, Anne Gebhardt O'Brien of Denver, Susan Gebhardt Helbig (Larry) of Denver, Mike Gebhardt of Longmont, Jim Gebhardt of Superior, Tom (Sheila) Gebhardt of Erie, Carol Gebhardt of Denver. Sister of Judy (Tom, deceased) Crowley of Davenport, IA, Linda (Bob) Prescott of Phoenix, AZ, Ruthann Mattes (David) of Joplin, MO, both deceased, and Aunt to many in the Crowley, Prescott, and Mattes families. Phyllis was CFO (Chief Family Officer) of her Gebhardt family and was affectionately known to all as 'MeMe', a name given to her by her oldest grandchild, Matt. Actually, she was MeMe to many people in Boulder and Loveland that were friends of the Gebhardt kids and grandkids. She was an avid fan of her kids and their sporting activities at the University of Colorado, as well as the NAU Lumberjacks and UNC Bears, where her grandsons played basketball and football. She was a 40+ year volunteer at Boulder Community Hospital and a good bridge player at Boulder Country Club, or anywhere there was a game. She was a member of the Buffalo Belles and really enjoyed going to football and basketball games at CU. She was a very happy, fun, loving and giving person to all who knew her. Respecting Paul's wishes, the family will have a private funeral Mass to honor Phyllis on Friday, November 13th. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Boulder Community Health Ambassadors Scholarship Fund (c/o BCH Foundation P.O. Box 1019, Boulder, CO 80301) or The Colorado Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association.
