Preston C. Childs, 85, of San Angelo, died Wednesday, May 8, 2013 in San Angelo. Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 11, 2013 at the White Chapel Cemetery in Coleman County, with Rev. Daniel Stovall officiating. Services are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home, 400 West Pecan Street, Coleman.

Preston C. Childs was born November 11, 1926 in Coleman, one of eight children born to H.L. and Maudie Billings Childs. He grew up and attended school in Silver Valley and graduated from Coleman High School. He served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II. After the war, Mr. Childs moved to San Angelo, working as a Civil Service Clerk at Goodfellow Air Force Base.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Ron and Cheryl Childs of Llano, Jerry and Robin Childs of Riner, Virginia; three grandchildren, Jennifer Rousey of Littleton, Colorado, Jessica Marinoble of Fredericksburg, Justin Childs of LaCrosse, Wisconsin; six great granddaughters, two great grandsons, one great-great grandson and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters.
