Chad James Shirley passed away at the age of 41, at the Intermountain Medical Center in Murray, UT, on December 22, 2020. Members of his family were at his bedside.
Chad was born June 1, 1979 in Rexburg, ID. He was the middle child of three brothers and one sister. In Rexburg, he and most of his family and friends, were raised as "children of the village". Countless neighbors, friends and family members took an interest and invested in the shaping of Chad's life and his upbringing.
He was a very active and gifted child with many skills, talents, and abilities that he used to serve and lift others. There was never a dull moment spending time with Chad. He was full of energy and life that radiated with everyone around him. He had a familiar smile and often wore a sheepish-grin that was a trademark to his character.
In his youth, Chad loved spending every day of the summer with his brothers and sister swimming at the Porter Park Swimming Pool. Neighborhood games, church activities, and playful mischief were also favorite past-times of his.
Chad never outgrew the playful mischief and also thoroughly enjoyed outdoor recreation and spending time with family and friends. He loved riding motorcycles, golfing, fishing, and snowmobiling. His nephews and nieces adored "Uncle Chaddy" and loved being around him. He was always very kind and playful while fueling their world of creativity and adventure.
Chad was an Eagle Scout and graduated from Madison High School. He served an honorable full-time mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints to Philadelphia, PA. Upon completing his mission, Chad attended and graduated from BYU-Idaho with a degree in Construction Management. He later made a successful career for himself as a building contractor. Chad married Stephanie Hatch in October 2014.
Chad is survived by his father Gil (Terri) Shirley; mother Sandra (LJ) Koller; his wife Stephanie Shirley; his siblings Ryan (Sam), Robb (Sarah), Alisa (Mark) Henderson, Blake Shirley, and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
His presence will be missed but always remembered by those whose lives he has touched. Chad will be buried at the Sutton Cemetery surrounded by many loved Shirley and Wilcox family members.
