Phyllis Stevens Obituary

Phyllis Fullmer Stevens, of Tetonia, passed away peacefully at her home Saturday, May 21, 2016, surrounded by her family. Phyllis was born Jan. 5, 1926, in Tetonia, at the Railroad bunkhouse to Alonzo Jensen Fullmer and Leta May Henrie.
She had a happy childhood growing up on the family farm east of Clawson, with the beautiful Teton Peaks as their backdrop. She always felt as if the peaks belonged to them.
Phyllis attended school in Lamont, Tetonia and Driggs and graduated her senior year from Blackfoot High School.
On Feb. 6, 1946, she married Joseph Wayne Stevens in the Idaho Falls Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Phyllis and Wayne raised their six children together on the farm at Canyon Creek through the summers and moved to Tetonia during the school year.
She loved her life on the farm and was often found driving a truck or, for many years, a grain harvester. She was willing to help wherever she was needed. She became a very efficient bookkeeper for the farm, which required many hours of her time.
She was a member of the LDS church and served faithfully in many callings. She loved to fish, bowl, golf, cook breakfast outdoors and play a good game of cards, especially pinochle. Over and above all of these, a family gathering of any kind was her favorite! What a loving, kind, compassionate and generous example we have had.
She is survived by four children, Saundra Moffat (Greg), of Rexburg; Mike Stevens (Jill), of Rigby; Chris Ricks (Mark), of Tetonia; and Leta Hoopes (Brent), of Tetonia; a sister, Nesta Wolf, of Rexburg; 21 grandchildren; and 52 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Wayne; two sons, Jeff and Phil Stevens; a sister, Verna Stevick; and three brothers, Mark, Jack and Lloyd Fullmer.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 28, 2016, at the Tetonia LDS Church. The family will receive friends Friday from 5:30-7 p.m. at the church and from 9:30-10:45 a.m. Saturday prior to services. Interment will be in the Cache-Clawson Cemetery.
