Steven Geisler Obituary

Steven John Geisler, 72, of Rexburg, Idaho, returned to his heavenly home surrounded by his family on May 26, 2023, in Idaho Falls, Idaho.

Steve was born on December 1, 1950, to Perry Ernst Charles Geisler and Cecelia Mae Galbraith in Rigby, Idaho. He married the love of his life, Deanie Anderson, on December 18, 1971, and together they raised five children.

Steve worked hard throughout his life. Beginning in his childhood he worked on the family farm, joining Union Pacific Railroad after high school, and eventually retiring after many years with Madison School District and Idaho State Hospital South. Steve also joined the Idaho Army National Guard when he was 18 years old and loved serving his country and his community over his 27-year military career.

Steve was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and loved serving in a variety of positions throughout his life. His heart belonged to his work with the Boy Scouts of America and the opportunities he had to help his boy scouts work hard to become Eagle Scouts. He also served for many years in the temple alongside his wife, a calling that he truly treasured. Steve loved to ride horses with his siblings in his youth and hunting with his son and nephews over the years. His family was his whole world and any activity he could do with them was his favorite activity. He loved making his family breakfast, taking walks or hikes, playing board games, sitting around talking about life, or watching movies with his wife and granddaughters. Steve had a gift for making everyone feel like the most important person in the room, always taking time to listen to their stories and share some of his own.

He is survived by his wife, Deanie Geisler, daughter Shelly (Jesus) Roman, son Wade (Jennifer) Geisler, daughter Jeanne (Derrick) Anderson, son Adam Geisler, and son Joshua (Megan) Geisler. He is the proud grandfather of 14 grandchildren, Justin Roman, Jason Roman, Angela (Gerald) Graham, McKell (Brogan) Bumgarner, Shaylee (Austin) Beck, Amethyst Williamson, Angela Anderson, Emma Deveraux, Kinley Geisler, Elise Deveraux, Mirielle Deveraux, Carter Anderson, Matthew Geisler, and Sarah Geisler and one great-grandson, Tyce Bumgarner. He is also survived by his brother, Lee (Eileen) Geisler, sister Ellen (Ken) Carlson, sisters-in-law Loainne (Larry) Geisler, Brenda (Bill) Schiess and Gloria Howe, brother-in-law Vance (Kellie) Anderson, and many nieces and nephews whom he loved.

He is preceded in death by his father Perry Geisler, mother Cecelia Mae Geisler, brother Larry Geisler, father-in-law Lynn Hall, mother-in-law Wanda Jean Hall, father-in-law Dean Anderson, and brother-in-law Shane Anderson.
