Adele Barsanti Obituary

Adele Buonanoma Barsanti

Reno - On January 2, 2021, Adele Buonanoma Barsanti left this earth to be with her husband Elio "Al" once again after thirteen years apart. Her heart which was so big and strong for so many years succumbed Saturday evening. She passed peacefully asleep in her "evil chair", the recliner she napped in every afternoon, with John and Romy by her side.

Mom was born October 23rd, 1926 in Salt Lake City UT since it was the closest hospital to Elko, Nv at the time. She was a proud and lifelong Nevadan. Her childhood and young life were spent in Hazen, Nevada. She often spoke of the Gas station/ Store / Dancehall/ Jail building she worked at with fond memories. Adele attended and graduated from Fallon High, the GreenWave!

After graduation, she moved to Reno and met Elio "Al" Barsanti. Five years later she married Al and retired from the IRS to start a family. He was truly the love of her life. They would spend the next 49 years together until his passing in 2007. Al and Adele owned the Al Barsanti Farmers Insurance Agency. It was the work of their life and provided a great life for all. Family was everything to Adele. She was an incredible cook and cooked many lunches and dinners for family gatherings. She enjoyed cooking immensely.

They had three children, Linda Bob and John. John was the surprise, Adele had him at the age of 40. In her on words, she was "apprehensive and scared", but all turned out well ad they enjoyed raising their young family. Their goal was to have all three graduate from college and that happened in 1990, after 25 years of paying for their educations. All have gone onto be successful in their own endeavors.

The highlight of Adele's golden years was her grandchildren Elio and Gianna. She fought off many serious ailments over the past 13 years to stick around and see the grow up. Adele was incredibly proud of the young man Elio has become and dearly wanted to see him graduate from high school. She came pretty close… Gianna and Adele had a special relationship arguing daily over who loved who more. On Friday January 1, 2021 about 6:00pm, Gianna let Nonno finally win. That's a special moment and memory for both.

Adele is survived by her three children Linda, Bob and John (Romy). She has two grandchildren Elio and Gianna Barsanti. She has numerous nephews and nieces she regularly talked with: John Barsanti (Trish) of New York, Jeanne Barsanti Greene (Craig) of Georgia, Bette Sherman (Bob) of Texas, Vivian Barsanti of Italy, and Marlee Gordon (Doug) of California.

There will not be formal services currently due to COVID and other family concerns. A celebration of life will be held in the Spring/ Summer when all that knew and loved Adele can gather to share their memories of what a wonderful, caring, generous beautiful human being she was.

Adele and John had a very special relationship. She helped him as a mother, bookkeeper, friend and consiglieri. They shared a poem Mom found in one of her magazines... It got them through some difficult times over the years, it's copied here:

Don't Quit. When things go wrong as they sometimes will, when the road you're trudging seems all uphill. When the funds are low and the debts are high, and you want to smile, but you have to sigh. When care is pressing you down a bit, rest if you must but don't you quit. Life is queer with it's twists and turns, as everyone of us sometimes learns. And many a failure turns about, when he might have won had he stuck it out. Don't give up though the pace seems slow - you may succeed with another blow. Success is failure turned inside out - The silver tint of the clouds of doubt. And you never can tell how close you are, it may be near when it seems so far. So, stick to the light when your hardest hit, it's when things seem worst that you must not quit.

Rest now Mom, you fought the good fight, you finished the race, and you kept the faith. You never quit: being a great daughter, wife, mom, grandmother and friend.

I Love you always, John

Babe, I remember the time we visited and you were so thrilled to tell us that you had met "the one". You introduced us to Al and you said you just knew; you thought you were "getting up there" and you didn't know if you would ever get married. Instead, Al came along and you went on to live a long, beautiful life together raising 3 great kids.

I so appreciate the memories of my dad that you shared with me; it's the only memories of his childhood/teenage years that I have. So miss talking with you. But you deserve to be with Al, your mom & dad and brothers. btw, give my dad a kiss for me.

To me she was always Babe. She laughed when I'd call that she knew it was me because I'm the only one who called her that. My dad was so fortunate to have been raised by her generous parents. When she was born she was "the baby" and so it stuck. I will forever be grateful for Babe filling me in on my dad's history; holding on to his Edison and records so he had (now me) a connection to his young life and for doing all the research on his parents, my grandparents. She will always be my aunt, even if not in blood.

Babe loved her family dearly and looked forward to cooking lunch for Mario and whoever else wanted to come. Phone calls always revolved around "the lunch". And she treasured them so.

She is peacefully at rest in the arms of Al and the angels. May God bless you. You will be missed.

Adele will always have a place in my heart. I remember caring for her over these past years, putting her to bed she would always kiss my check tell me thank you and I love you. I in turn would tell her the same. God speed Adele, be free doing what ever you are planning on doing

She was my Mom and I loved her so much. Linda and I are her older children. My favorite memories of her are her hugs and kisses, her meals made with love, setting up the Christmas decorations we made and collected together, and "judging" Dancing With The Stars over the phone with her after every dance! (By the way, Mom and I were always right) I always trimmed her and my Mom's and Grandmother's roses until they were butchered by a hack my brother hired to take my place. I know what every momento is in her house, where it came from, and what it meant to her. I also spent hours with her looking at her photos learning who, what, and the where of each one.
She was amazing and so loving to me. I will miss her forever.
I love you Mom, Bob

My favorite aunt. She was almost like a sister to me sort of half way between my dad (her brother Bruno) and myself. She was a fantastic cook, a kind and great lady. Now it's your turn Adele ,to rest in peace.

Aunt Adele was one of the kindest, most loving persons I knew. She also had a ton of common sense - and so gave great advice. She and Uncle Elio raised a spectacular family. Adele became the "glue" that held the Barsanti family (spread across the world and across the USA) together, especially after the death of most of her in-laws and her brothers. Bobby (Sherman) and I adored her. I will always thank her for the times we shared after my Mom died. I will think of her & keep her in my heart forever. Adele: give my love to my Mom and Dad with you in Heaven.

Your mother was blessed with such a loving family. And those of us that know you John know what a great son you have been. Her poem is one that we all should read and retain. She rests with a full heart.
