Carol Davis Obituary

Carol Suzon Davis

In Loving Memory of one of God's beloved children, who has returned to her Heavenly Father, she will be greatly missed.

Carol Suzon Davis was born on July 24, 1943 in Anderson, Indiana to Mary and James Banta. She attended Anderson High School and then Purdue University where she studied art and industrial design. For many years she performed the duties of a US Air Force Officer's wife in several states as well as England and Germany.

Suzon was a long time resident of Pensacola, Florida where she and her sister owned The Quilt Corner. She was an expert and exceptional seamstress, designer, and quilter. She was a gifted sewing teacher with many devoted students. Her specialized skills were indispensable to the production of prototype garments to improve aviation safety for the Naval Aerospace Medical Research Laboratory at NAS Pensacola. Suzon was surprised at how much she enjoyed hockey and was a Pensacola Ice Pilots season ticket holder for several seasons. Many of her lifelong friends, whom she loved dearly, where those she met in Pensacola.

Suzon moved to Reno in 2005 to be close to family. She continued her work as a seamstress and sewing teacher. She was a cherished member of the Mountain View Montessori School Community as a grandparent. She offered her time, talent, and skills to the students and families.

Suzon was a devout Christian. She had a deep understanding of the Bible that only comes from dedicated study. Suzon was a loving and kind person, not only to people she knew and loved, but to strangers as well. She had a very humble spirit and truly gave selflessly. Suzon will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and everyone who had the opportunity to know her.

Suzon is survived by her children: Phil & Mishre Davis and Jen & Dan Masterson; her grandchildren: Philip & Lydia Davis, Emily Davis, Jack Masterson and Maggie (Margaret Suzon) Masterson; her great grandchildren: Alexis, Emily, Johnathan, and William; and her sisters: Patricia Baker and Debbie & Tony Potochnik.

Words cannot possible express how much I will miss you, my dear sister.

Suzie was, and shall remain, a key part of my life. As my aunt, she was always a source of love, guidance and acceptance. She lived a life that was always about giving. While never being showy about it, Suzie lived the Christian life, her love and openness must have opened many eyes to Jesus' message.
Time will go on, but there won't ever be a day when Suzie doesn't cross my mind and touch me. I take comfort in knowing she is where she should be, with our Lord.

What I will always remember about my cousin Suzi were the visits: going to Anderson, IN to visit her (where my Aunt Mary lived) and her visits to Griffith, IN to visit us (where her Aunt Phyllis lived). I will also remember my visits to Pensecola, FL to visit her, her sister and their Quilt Shop. But most of all, I will miss her laughter as it was the sweetest I've ever heard. Love to you my dear cousin, you will be missed by many.

May God's Peace, which passes all understanding, abide with us as it did in Suzi's life. I am but a pale shadow of my dear Aunt, blessed with only a fraction of her talent, yet given a full complement of Suzi's capacity to be a klutz. I miss your kind and gentle spirit, and I stand in awe of your capacity to love others more than yourself. I am a better person for having known you Suzi, and I hold your memory as a precious example of the Love of Christ here on Earth. May God continue to Bless and Guide our family, as we know for certain that there is a new Angel in your Court above.
