Cecilia Tognoni Obituary

Cecilia Francisca Tognoni

Cecilia Francisca Tognoni was born on March 23, 1940 to Angelo and Emilia Tognoni and passed away October 4th, 2011 at home surrounded by family and friends at the age of 71. In her youth Cecile enjoyed being raised on the Segura Ranch located in Antelope Valley. She was educated in Eureka, Nevada and graduated High School in 1957.

Cecile was married to Thomas Johnston for 51 years. She was a loving mother of two children and after they graduated high school Cecile took care of many young children for years. Cecile was employed by the United States Postal Service where she worked for 27 1/2 years and then retired at the age of 68.

Cecile's many hobbies included cooking, cleaning, and gardening. In the winter she was notorious for her snow shovel in the back of her car which she used to help shovel many drive ways and sidewalks about Eureka, and in the summer a container of gasoline and shovel with which she helped rid Eureka of Box Elders and noxious weeds.

Cecile's strength was sustained through her love of the Lord, Jesus Christ and the fellowships of Saint Brendan's Catholic Church. She is survived by her mother Emilia Tognoni, brother Tony Tognoni, aunt Carmen Flangas, uncle John Flangas, daughter Cindy Adams, son Thomas Johnston, grandchildren Logan Adams, Ashley Adams, Brennan Johnston, Noel Singleton, her husband Shannon and his son Shawn, many nephews, nieces and cousins, and the apple of Cecile's eye was her two month old great granddaughter Alliena Singleton, which she got to hold and love the last month of her life.

She loved to gather family and friends together in celebrating the 4th of July. So at 10 a.m. on July 3th, 2012, there will be a graveside service and celebration of her life at the Catholic Cemetery in Eureka, Nevada for those who wish to attend.

The family of Cecile would like to thank everyone for the overwhelming support and love through this difficult adjustment time without her but we believe she now walks with Jesus and knows true peace.

I will always remember Cecile as a vibrant, happy and generous cousin. My memories of vacations with her and her family are one of the brightest of my childhood. Although I have not been in touch for years, Cecile's passing saddens me deeply but I am heartened by the profile in her obituary of a person who remained strong and enjoyed the support of her loving family throughout her entire life. My heartfelt sympathy to Cindy, whom I have had the pleasure of seeing not long ago, and to the rest of your family, Cecile.
