Charles Couchman Obituary

Charles "Chuck" E. Couchman came into this world on August 9, 1933. He was born in Pittsburg County, OK, to John and Hattie Couchman.
He graduated high school from Chilocco Indian School in 1950, in OK. Charles served his country in the Army. He was a paratrooper stationed at Fort Bragg, NC. During this time, April 30th, 1955, he married Margie L. Taylor of Modesto, CA. They were married for 11 years and had 5 children. Charles worked in a number of trades throughout his life. He was a truck driver and master mechanic; he superintended for Helms Construction (NV) and Ghilotti Brothers Construction (CA) to name a few.
After moving to Reno in 1975, he met and married Jeanette Holley of Sparks, NV. ‘Chuck,' the name by which he was best known, was an avid outdoorsman. He was a gun enthusiast and collector. He was truly in his element when trading, buying or selling tools, automobiles and various kinds of equipment. He thoroughly enjoyed watching war and western movies. He'll always be remembered for his daily routine of going to ‘the shop,' where he worked and spent time with his brother, Gene, and friends. He was a member of the Shiners. It was these interests that filled the years of his retirement. In the latter years of his life Chuck's health deteriorated until his death on December 12, 2010.
Chuck was preceded in death by his parents John and Hattie Couchman; sister, Mary Bell; great-granddaughter, Hadley Fox. Surviving relatives include his wife Jeanette; brother Gene Couchman; children Brenda (Don) Fox; Randy (Tanja) Couchman; Alan (Carol) Couchman; Greg (Sherri) Couchman; Glenda (Milan) Mitrovic; Susan Holley and John Holley; grandchildren Brandon (Angela), Colin, Evan Fox and Hayley (Andrew) Evans; Brent (Lindsey), Amy Jo, and Bryan Couchman; Valerie (Jason) Serio, Nathan (Leann), and Tyler Couchman; Sara, Danielle, Lance, Emily and Ryan Couchman; Susan's children Jason LeBlanc, Jennifer LeBlanc (Alon), Kathryn LeBlanc (Wayne); great-grandchildren: Andrew Sadler; Keegan and Liam Fox; Ozzie and Ivy Serio.
Chuck's visitation is scheduled for Sunday December 19, 2010 from 10am until Noon, the time of the funeral, at Walton Sparks Funeral Home, 1745 Sullivan Lane. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations in memory of Charles E. Couchman be made to Kerak Shriners' Childrens Hospital, 4935 Energy Way, Reno, NV 89502.
