Chung Lu Obituary
Reno - In Loving Memory of Dr. Chung Lu, Ph.D.
(Dec. 30, 1927-Aug. 16, 2018)
Dr. Lu passed away peacefully on August 16, 2018 surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with cancer. Dr. Lu was born in Fujian, China. As the oldest son, he was the only one in his family to leave China to study. He studied in Taiwan and then taught at Singapore University and Southern Illinois University. He had a successful career in biochemical research working for both Northwestern University and the Veteran's Administration in Chicago, where he raised his daughters. He moved to Reno in 2004 to be near his daughters and grandchildren after Helen, his wife of 40 years, passed away from cancer. His greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren.
Dr. Lu is survived by his two daughters, Marcia (Frank Stadler) and Cynthia; his grandchildren, Christian, Nicholaus, Paxton and Marisa; and numerous relatives in Fujian, China. The family would like to thank Dr. Jennifer Sutton, Community Hospice of Northern Nevada, and Brookdale for their loving care of Dr. Lu. A celebration of life will be planned at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider contributing to Make-A-Wish in Dr. Lu's name as his grandchildren intend to grant a wish to a local child in his honor. Contributions may be made either online at http://site.wish.org/goto/chunglu or checks may be mailed directly to Make-A-Wish of Northeastern California and Northern Nevada, 2800 Club Center Drive, Sacramento, CA 95835. Please write "In Memory of Dr. Chung Lu" in the memo line.
