David Banghart Obituary

David C.

BANGHART

David Clinton Banghart died November 12, 2009 in Reno, NV. He was born June 6, 1954 at Camp Pendleton Marine Corps Base, CA to Roger Clinton and Jacqueline Marie Banghart. He was the oldest of six children.

Dave attended grade schools in Utah, Idaho, and Nevada, graduating from White Pine High School in Ely, NV in 1972. He received his bachelor's degree in Business Administration at the University of Nevada, Reno in 1977.

At White Pine High School, Dave was an honor student and played basketball and baseball. In 1972 he played first base for the state champion Bobcats and was selected first team all-state. Dave joined Harrah's Entertainment in 1976 where he worked for over 33 years entertaining guests and being a great friend to his co-workers. Dave was one of the original members of the Kook Golf Tournament. Dave married Karen Schwab in 2003.

Dave is survived by his wife, Karen; his father, Roger C. Banghart; his two daughters, Ambere (John) Angel and Nicci Banghart and the light of his life, his grandson, Ben Angel. Dave is also survived by three sisters, Denise (Jose) Villarta, American Fork, UT, Debbie (John) Finley, Elko, NV, and Diana Gray, Spokane, WA and two brothers, Dan (Carol) Banghart, Elko, NV, and Doug Banghart, Reno, NV.

David had a wonderful sense of humor. He was outgoing but humble and had only good things to say about others. He touched our lives in his own special way. He lovingly cared for his parents and taught us many life lessons - kindness, honesty, and to give more than you receive.

Only one word describes the relationship he had with his grandson, "inseparable." A good day for Dave was spending time with his grandson Ben. He never missed an opportunity to go to a ball game, golfing, camping, or fishing with his pal. He also loved to go to his nieces‘ and nephews‘ sporting events.

He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. A gathering of friends and family will be on November 18, 2009 at 1 p.m. at Wild Creek Golf Course 3500, Sullivan Lane, Sparks. Memorial contributions can be made to Dave's favorite charity St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

We had some good times in high school. It's too bad we loose track of our friends and don't realize how much time has passed until we read an obituary. I am sorry for your loss. May God bless you and give you strength.

My condolences to the family. I attended Dave's memorial gathering and learned many things about Dave that I did not know. His interest in fishing, hiking, and photography was news to me. I had watched him play softball but had no idea he was a state champion baseball player. And his honor student status was also news to me. Such a humble man. I'll be reminded of Dave especially when I hike the Sierras.

Dave was a GREAT guy!!! His sense of humor and his warmth towards his friends will be greatly missed. I always looked forward to the KOOK golf tournament in the original days knowing I'd be reconnecting with many close friends...Dave was always one of the first guys I'd look for at the campground. Rest in Peace my friend.

Karen, girls, and Shirl,
My thoughts and prayers are with you. Dave will be missed by all. I'll miss his smile and how he "lite up" like a light bulb when we'd talk about our boys playing baseball.
Bless you and your families. Dave will always be with us.
