David Morris Obituary

David "Scotty" Morris

83, passed away suddenly on June 8, 2013.

David was born December 31, 1929, in Inverness, Scotland to Bessie and Lewis Morris. David's father was known as "Harris Tweed King", owning several boutiques throughout Scotland. His father was the inventor of the prototype for the modern day ATM machine. His mother lovingly raised six children, David, Eric (of blessed memory) Ivor, Kenneth, Raymond and Doris (of blessed memory).

David was privately schooled in Switzerland and Scotland and proudly joined the Royal Air Force.

David came to the United States in 1949 and met his beautiful bride, Renee. The two of them built a home in San Bruno and lovingly raised their two children, Kevin and Karen. As a family, they went on multiple world adventures, traveling to the Philippines to dine with the President and traveling throughout all of Europe and East Asia.

David's infectious charisma and unlimited energy lead him to multiple high profile positions in San Francisco. David owned several furniture companies and was a well known and widely consulted Fine Art Appraiser. He was a Coronel in the National Guard, a Commander in the San Francisco Sheriff's Air Squadron, a member of the San Francisco Coast Guard Auxiliary, a member of the Pacific Masonic Lodge and the Chairman of the San Francisco Press Club.

David had a true passion for flying. He was a private pilot for over 58 years. After successful quadruple heart bypass surgery, David petitioned the FAA and was granted approval to fly his private aircraft from San Francisco to Scotland. David had logged over 10,000 air miles, and enjoyed spending each Sunday with his son Kevin, exploring the skies of the Bay Area together.

Last November, David was recognized by SFO's private aviation division as being the oldest tenant at Signature Flight Support, an award not given to any other individual in the nation.

David's vibrancy earned him friends throughout the globe. It would not be uncommon for him to fly on a moment's notice to have dinner with friends in Asia or fly to Scotland to have lunch with dear friends. He always had a great joke to share. His generosity for those he loved had no limits.

David is survived by his wife Renee, his son Kevin (Brenley), his daughter Karen (David), and his grandchildren whom he loved deeply, Nicole, Jordan, Ashley and Joshua.

Services will be held on Wednesday, June 12, 2013 at 11:00am at Peninsula Temple Sholom, 1655 Sebastian Drive, Burlingame, CA 94010, followed by a gravesite services at Salem Cemetery, 1711 El Camino Real, Colma 94014.

"Scotty" was a member of Flotilla-11, 11th Northern District U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary during my tenure as the Flotilla Commander. He was a dedicated aviator and was available for any aerial Search & Rescue mission. He was a very good pilot.
