David Trainer Obituary

David

TRAINER

David Trainer of Reno passed away at Renown Medical Center on November 11, 2008. Ironically, David did not succumb to the cancer that he valiantly fought for the last few years, but due to complications of his treatment.

Born in Bryan, TX to Dick and Janet Trainer, David spent most of his life in the San Francisco Bay Area before moving to Reno in 1993. David loved his golf, old cars, river rafting, and exploring the back roads with his brother, Paul. David possessed a wonderful, dry wit and was always quick with a smile and a handshake.

David is survived by his wife, Cathy; children, Catherine, Joseph and Dan; a brother and two sisters. Through his care and direction David built a family that he loved and cared for dearly; he will be missed.

To all of Dave's friends and family: We will gather this Saturday, November 15, 2008, 2677 Rodney Dr., Reno to recognize the passing of David Trainer. In the typical Trainer fashion, it's beers and burgers; just like Dave would have it.For information, please call Brian at 287-0688.

It is the wish of the family, in lieu of flowers or other commercial expressions of sympathy, to have donations directed to the California Pacific Medical Center, which is the cancer research center that gave us two more wonderful years with Dave. To make this tax-deductible gift in David's name online, go to www.cpmc.org/giving or mail your check to: California Pacific Medical Center Foundation, P.O. Box 45902 San Francisco, CA. 94145-0902. Please direct your donations to be designated for Melanoma Research.

Dad,
thank you for being such a great dad. I will never forge the bike
rides, driving lessons or all of the BBQs we got to share. I was lucky
enough to ave you as my dad but even luckier to have you as my friend.
I will honor and remember you by being the good person you raised and
can be proud of. I love you,
Cathy

Kathy,
Sorry to have missed so many opportunities to party with the "Captain". This is my lesson not to miss other chances in life.
Thank you for bringing Dave into our lives.

To Dave, My Good Friend in San Jose

I'll always remember the good talks we had over a glass of red wine or beer. You were an excellent father who protected your kids, lead them to the right path, and disciplined fairly. You were the leader of the family, their hero.

I remember the parties, dinners and holiday celebrations we shared.

We each have had to fight this terrible disease called cancer. People say I am brave and strong, but YOU my friend were a true warrior. You fought a valiant, courageous and honorable fight. You are a warrior and one of my heroes.

May your glass in heaven be full at all times and the beer be well chilled.
