Denny Acquafondata Obituary

Robert "Denny" Acquafondata

February 1, 1943

July 21, 2012

Denny passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Ely, Nevada, grew up in Salt Lake City, Utah, and spent the last 50+ years of his life in Reno. After moving to Reno, he began what would become a long and successful career in the construction industry. His career began when he was hired by Gene Torvinen as a hod carrier. He went on to work for Solari & Sons, Inc. where he met the love of his life, Julie, who would become his devoted wife of over 30 years. The closure of Solari & Sons enabled him to fulfill his lifelong dream and start his own company, RDA, Inc. With a commitment to run his business based on Christian values and a team spirit, RDA would go on to become one of the most well respected subcontractors in Reno for many years, building much of the Reno skyline. Denny will always be remembered for his generosity and his endless contributions to local organizations, churches, schools, and anyone in need. The word "no" was rarely spoken and he would always give a second chance. Denny will be remembered as a loyal husband, a loving, caring and protective father, and a faithful friend. As a boss, his door was always open to his employees. Denny was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Wellman and Carmella Acquafondata, and his son, Tony Wellman. He is survived by his loving wife, Julie; daughters Tara Podnar (Cory), Kayla Acquafondata, Sabrina Acquafondata, and Kristina Wellman; and son Aaron Acquafondata. He is also survived by sister Sherry Wellman; brothers Butch Wellman, Terry Imus (Mickey), and Ron Wellman (Sharon); seven grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 4th, 2012 at 1:00pm at Reno Christian Fellowship, 1700 W. Zolezzi Lane, Reno 89511.

In memory of Dennis I send my condolences and sympathy's to family and friends. I met Dennis long ago @ RDA. We sold paint to him for his projects. Dennis was a super guy and business man. I met Butch and knew all the painters. Dennis was a go-getter and actually had most of the business in town. I'm so blessed he knew the LORD. Though he be gone....he will never be forgotten.
