DeWitt Smith Obituary
DeWitt Clinton "Clint" Smith, 74, passed away peacefully Sunday, August 16, 2015 at his home. He was born in Denver, CO and moved to Reno in the early 2000's. He graduated from East High School and The Univ of Colorado, Boulder's College of Engineering. He also received an MBA from the Univ of Chicago.
He was on a number of Advisory Boards, Advisory Committees/Councils in Washoe County including Senior Outreach Services (SOS), Sanford Center for Aging, UNR, Washoe County Senior Services Advisory Board, OLLI, the City of Reno Senior Citizens Advisory Committee and he was one of two representatives for District 2, appointed by the Washoe County Board of Commissioners. He was very active in the development of the Master Plan for Aging Services and supporting many other senior issues. He cared deeply for others and especially the seniors across our community. He was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Episcopal Church in Reno.
Clint is survived by son, Gibson (Laurie) Smith of Denver, CO, daughter, Tiffany (Tom) Majeau of Sandy Hook, CT, sister, Linda (John) Fulham and family. Clint loved his grandchildren dearly: Charlie, Allison, Jamie, Annie and Matthew. We wish to honor Clint's longtime friend Ann Morrison, of New Jersey. Clint is and forever will be sorely missed. He was loved by all who knew him.
According to his wishes, Clint will be cremated, and a Memorial Service Celebration of Life will be held at: Five Stars, 3201 Plumas St., Reno, NV 89509 on Friday, August 21, 2015 at 3 p.m.
Clint's children, have requested in lieu of flowers that charitable donations be made to honor their father's love and support of elders and children. Donations can be sent to: Senior Outreach Services, Sanford Center for Aging, 1664 N. Virginia Street, UNR, Reno, NV 89557 or to Young Life Newtown, 13 Rose St, Danbury, CT 06810. Check memo "In Memory of Clint Smith". Young Life will support and mentor Newtown middle and high school kids as they continue to recover from the Sandy Hook Elementary School tragedy in 2012.

Clint and I went to East High together and often sat next to each other, as I was also a "Smith" in those days. He was a kind, nice, quiet, humorous person who uplifted every group he was in. I am very saddened to hear of his passing. My sincere condolences to all who love him.
