George, "The Greek" went to his Lord on the morning of December 26th 2013. He was born on December 2nd, 1939 in Lindsey, CA to Bill and Pearl. He grew up on a ranch near Springville, CA with his brothers, Rollis "Bill" (wife Karen) and Dale (wife Donna). Early in the 1950's, his family moved to a ranch near Wells, NV where George graduated from Wells High School in 1957. After he served our country in the US Navy, he returned to Ely, NV where he met his first wife Darlene and they had their first child, George in 1962. In a few years the family moved to Reno where George worked and attended the University of Nevada; he graduated in 1973. During this time, his daughter Lori was born in 1971. George worked for many years for a local trucking company based in Sparks. He was a mechanic, driver, owener/operator and general manager. He worked for many years with Barbara Haney, and they were married in 2001. They sold the business and retired in 2004, although George was still found working for SRT during the summer months each year. George and Barbara spent the twilight years of his life traveling in their RV with their special dog Rufus and spending time with their families and friends.

George was a great man; honest, hard working, respected by his colleagues, and dearly loved by his family and friends. We will miss his great smile and love. George is survived by his wife, Barbara, his children George and Lori, his grandchildren, Karina, Matthew and Erin as well as step-children Steve and darryl, and numerous step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren. An outdoor service will be planned sometime in the summer to celebrate his life.
