Kathryn (Kate) Pendleton

Kate was born in Reno in March 16, 1972, and passed away on February 22, 2016.

She was a proud graduate of Merry Berry Preschool, Roy Gomm Elementary School, Swope Middle School, Reno High School, and the University of Nevada, Reno. She lived an exciting and adventurous life - from running a marathon, jumping out of airplanes, to SCUBA diving in the depths of the oceans. She sought out the unusual path; she made the journey her life, and took in the people, the sights, the smells, and the sounds of all, in seeking her destination.

Kate was the beloved daughter of father, Bruce and mother, Peggy; step-mother, Anne; sister, Paige (Jim), brother, Eric (Michelle), step-sisters, Katy (Frank), Jessyca (Dan); and was the adored "Auntie Kate" to nieces, Maddy, Isabella, and Joley, and nephews, Brian, Henry, Nate, and Drew. She had a large and loving extended family who adored her immensely .

Kate's contagious smile welcomed everyone's friendship and her beautiful loving heart sustained those friendships. There are no adequate words to describe how she will be missed.

"God bless you Kate. We know, without a doubt, that you are in His warm embrace and are finally at peace, our precious darling one."

Services will be held at 3:00 pm on Friday, March 4th, at the South Reno Baptist Church, 6780 South McCarran Blvd., Reno, after which a Celebration of Her Life will take place at The Grove, 95 Foothill Road, Reno, 4:30 pm to 7:30 pm, where memories will be shared.

In lieu of flowers, a donation in her memory to the Brain and Behavior Research Foundation, 90 Park Avenue, 16th Floor, New York, NY 10016, would be so appreciated.

I was shocked and hurt deeply when I heard of the loss of your beautiful daughter. I lived across the driveway from her and I am now saddened by the thought of never seeing her wave and smile at me with that wonderful smile she had. I had worked with Kate and she was always so warm and friendly. My fondest memory of her was when I looking in the Fine Jewelry department, I spotted a necklace, but felt I could not afford it at the time. Over a year later, I looked for the necklace and it was no longer there. Kate had remembered about it and knew that I was disappointed, she searched for it and ordered it for me. Thanks to Kate's thoughtfulness, I had gotten the cherished necklace. Every time that I wear it now, I will remember her kindness and beautiful spirit.

Kate understood the power of clothing and fashion--that it could help a person feel re-made, feel powerful, feel strong. She helped me pick out multiple things over the years for various "big deal" moments in my life, and her enthusiasm for her work, and her generosity of spirit always made me like I was in good hands. Reno has lost an important community pillar, and her absence will be felt. Condolences to her family and friends in what must be a most painful time. She was a lovely soul.
