Lawrence Laflamme Obituary

FRANKLIN ; Lawrence "Larry" B. Laflamme, 80, of 135 Thunder Road, died Friday, Aug. 15, 2008, at the Genesis Rehab Center in Laconia following a short illness.

He was born in Laconia, April 7, 1928, son of the late W. Leroy and Eva (Lavallee) Laflamme. Larry spent his youth and was schooled in Laconia. He moved to Franklin in 1959.

He worked with family for more than 16 years at the Laflamme Homelyke Bakery in Laconia and later owned and operated Larry's Pastry Shop in Franklin from 1959 to 1973. He then worked as a chef-baker at the former Laconia State School and New Hampshire State Prison, retiring in 1991.

He had been a member of AA for more than 40 years and former member of the Franklin Lodge of Elks. He enjoyed time at the beach, playing cards and making others laugh. He was a former parishioner of St. Joseph Church in Laconia and St. Paul Church in Franklin.

His family includes his wife of 60 years, Barbara A. (Hunt) Laflamme of Franklin; a son, Dennis Laflamme of Franklin; five daughters, Marcia and husband Butch Abbott of Franklin, Joan and husband Martin Judd of Hill, Nancy and husband Brian Adams of Northfield, Ellen Gilpatric of Franklin, Peggy Laflamme of Tilton; a brother, Norman Laflamme of Hallendale, Fla.; his twin sister, Loretta Tardif of Barefoot Bay, Fla; nieces and nephews.

Family was important to Larry. He enjoyed his grandchildren, Jodi Phelps, Tim Abbott, Kevin and Ken Judd, Jeremy and Melanie Michael, Samantha Adams, Joshua Laflamme and Jennifer Gardner and his 15 great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by a daughter, Norma Jean Laflamme in 1955 and grandson, Patrick Michael in 1997; by brothers, Paul and Albert Laflamme; a sister, Lorraine Collins; and a brother-in-law, Bernie Gilpatric.

Calling hours will be Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at the William F. Smart Sr. Memorial Home, Franklin-Tilton Road in Tilton. A graveside service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in St. Lambert Cemetery, Province St. in Laconia.

Expressions of sympathy may be made in Larry's name to, Visiting Nurse Association and Hospice, 75 Chestnut St., Franklin, NH 03235, or to a local chapter of Alcoholics Anonymous.
