Michael Craggett Obituary

Michael R. Craggett

Michael R. Craggett, a resident of Stateline (Lake Tahoe) and Battle Mountain, Nevada, died peacefully with his family around him on January 5, 2016. He was much loved and will be sorely missed.

Michael was the beloved husband of the late Mary Roberts Craggett with whom he shared almost 30 years of marriage; brother of Meribelle (Craggett) James, James Patrick Craggett and Nanette (Faris) Bridger; stepfather to Nancy Gillio-Terry (Sussex, England), Jeffrey Gillio (Boulder, CO) and Margaret Gillio Bowman (Rochester, NY); and grandfather to Chloe and Dominic Gillio-Bowman (Rochester, NY).

Born on June 27, 1939 to Mary Virginia and Otis J. Craggett in Helena, Montana, Michael received his BA and MBA from the University of Washington and served in the U.S. Air Force before settling in Nevada in the late 1970s. Following a long career as a Master Electrician at Battle Mountain Gold, Michael retired with his wife Mary to Lake Tahoe where they could enjoy skiing, boating and walks with their beloved Newfoundland, Angel.

Michael will be remembered for his humor, generosity, integrity and passion for life. He was a devoted father and grandfather to the children and grandchildren he loved and cared for as his own, a loving husband to Mary, and a dedicated caregiver to those in need, including many cherished pets.

In honor of Mike's wish that he be remembered as he was, a memorial dinner for close family was held in celebration of his life at Lake Tahoe on January 7. He will be cremated and laid to rest with his late wife Mary in the landscape that they loved.
