JORDAN

To everything there is a season a time and a purpose

January 22, 1946 -July 7, 2008

Mitch, who was a native Nevadan born in Hawthorne, NV, died unexpectedly at his Reno home. He spent most of his early years growing up in Winnemucca, NV where he formed many life long friendships. He moved to Reno to attend UNR, graduating with a degree in biology. From there he enlisted in the Air Force, flying F4s in the Vietnam War. During that time he married his first wife, Patricia. They had one daughter, Ann Marie. They resided in Redwood City, CA, where he began his career as a General Contractor, moving to Incline Village, and then Reno. While in Incline Village, Mitch successfully started a snow removal business. Mitch also proudly built the homes in which they lived.

Mitch and Anne were brought together after the mutual losses of their spouses, having 11 wonderful years together raising two young boys, traveling, and realizing the “projects“ Anne would dream up. He loved to shoot trap, refurbish classic cars, debate politics, tell jokes, and spend time with his family.

Mitch was preceded in death by his mother Adene Corliss; his first wife Patricia Jordan; and his lifelong friends Ron Dayton, Gene Laucirica, and Skip Mahan.

Mitch is survived by wife, Anne Dayton; daughter, Ann Marie (Jordan) Carrera; sons, Connor James Dayton and Jared Dayton Jordan; and granddaughter Molly Ann Carrera; sisters Sharon Carter and Linda Haney; and his cousin, Bob Thompson who was like a brother. Funeral services are going to be held on Friday, July 11, 2008 at 11 a.m with the viewing from 8:30 - 10:30 a.m at Mountain View Cemetery 435 Stoker Ave., Reno, NV 89503.

To the Mitch Jordan Family;
My name is Bonnie & I am the receptionist here at the Cashman Equipment office in Sparks, Nevada. I had many opportunities to deal with Mitch, our customer, as he came in here frequently. He was a very kind, friendly, & humorous man. I always enjoyed his occasional stories. I just found out yesterday, of his untimely death, & I was totally shocked & saddened. He always spoke so proudly of his family. He had so much more life to live. My heartfelt prayers & sympathy goes out to his dear friends & beloved family. He left a great impression on those who knew him just a little, I can only imagine how dearly his loss will be felt among the closest people in his life. God bless you all. I am so sorry for your loss.

Mitch,You will be missed by many but mostly by us and especially me .Because you taught me alot about life and how to live it to its fullest and for that I am grateful. So in closing thank you for making me the man I am today.

To the Mitch Jordan family,
I went to high school with Mitch. His first wife, Pat, was a sorority sister of mine.
The last time I saw Mitch was when he and Pat lived at Incline Village, "just up the mountain" from my husband and I. He remodeled our Incline home for us.
My heart and sympathies go out to you. A great loss, much too soon.

I love you Dad!!! I am trying to find the strength to go on. Molly misses you dearly and even at her young age she senses you are gone. She reaches out to any old man with gray hair. I do not understand why you had to leave us now. I still need you! I will do what I can to make you proud of me. Say "HI" to mom for me and give her a big kiss. You are my HERO!!!!!!!!

Sometimes a life's challenges seem so unfair. For Anne, a young woman with a small son, to lose her husband, Ron, so unexpectedly at such a young age was so very sad. She was strong and found a second chance with Mitch. To, once again, lose her husband so unexpectedly leaving her with two sons to raise is almost incomprehensible. We have not met Ann Marie, but she is far too young to have faced the death of both of her parents. We can not express how very sorry and sad we are for the entire family. Find the strength you need to bear your untimely loss! We are not able to attend the services, but our hearts and thoughts are with you now and in the days ahead.
