Paul C. Deckenbach
The Reverend Paul C. Deckenbach passed away peacefully at the San Francisco VA Hospital on November 7, 2012 at the age of 85 with his loving family beside him. Beloved partner and best friend of Herb Jeong. Loving father of Elizabeth (Kevin Felder) and Thomas (Doreen). Adored grandfather of Alexis, Trevor and Jacob Felder and Courtney, Thomas Joseph and Taylor Deckenbach. Cherished friend of ex-wife Gail Deckenbach.
Paul was a devoted priest of the Episcopal Church for 57 years and was loved by the congregations that he served in Newark, Boonton, and Harrington Park, New Jersey and Biddeford Pool, Maine, as well as St. Peter's Episcopal Church in San Francisco and the Heritage retirement community in San Francisco. In retirement, he volunteered for many years as a Nave Chaplain at Grace Cathedral and celebrant for the Ministry to Nursing Homes at the now closed SF Community Convalescent Hospital, as well as a greeter at Mount Zion Hospital.
Relatives and friends are invited to the Requiem Holy Eucharist celebrating Paul's life and ministry at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, November 12, 2012 at Grace Cathedral, 1100 California Street, San Francisco, CA 94108. Memorial contributions to the General Theological Seminary, 440 West 21st Street, New York City, NY 10011 or Grace Cathedral.
