Paul Jacobsen Obituary

Paul Daniel Jacobsen

Our beloved husband, father, son, brother and friend Paul Jacobsen passed away on Thursday, October 18, 2012 while on a hunting trip in Ely, Nevada.

Paul was born on April 5, 1951, to Halvor and Amy Jacobsen in Carson City, Nevada. Paul attended Carson City and Las Vegas schools, as well as the University of Washington, where he played football. He graduated from UNR with a degree in informational systems and business.

He married his wife Gina Mastroianni in 1973. They were married for 39 years. Their son, Jon, completed the family when he was born in 1984. Family meant everything to Paul and he was a wonderful father and husband.

Paul and Gina lived in Reno where Paul was employed by First Interstate Bank, Norwest Bank and Wells Fargo. He was in the banking business for more than 35 years. He was well respected by his associates and customers, with many becoming friends.

Paul loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter, fisherman and golfer. He spent many happy hours with his friends pursuing these interests and expanding his list of stories to share. He was also a UNR football fanatic, rarely missing a game. Paul loved to cook and liked nothing better than bringing a special dish to share with family and friends.

He is survived by his wife Gina; his son Jonathan and fiancée Jessica Erickson; his mother Amy Jacobsen; brother Chuck (Lynn) Leavitt; sisters Ludene (Everett) Miller and Sandy Serrano. Many nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends will deeply miss his kindness, support and friendship.

A Celebration of Life will be held for Paul on Sunday, October 28th, at 3:00 p.m. at the Lake Ridge Golf Course, 1218 Golf Club Drive, Reno, Nevada 89519. Please bring your favorite photo or story of Paul for our memory book.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Paul's name to The Children's Cabinet, 2097 Longley Lane, Reno, NV 89502, The Boys and Girls Club of Truckee Meadows, 2680 East 9th Street, Reno, NV 89512, or the Athletic Association of the University of Nevada, 1664 North Virginia Street, Reno, NV 89557 would be welcomed by the family.

We were traveling when we heard the sad news so was unable to attend his Celerbration at Lakeridge. Paul and began working together at the bank in the 80's. Paul Don and I spent many hours on one of the first consumer loan automation projects. Believe me he was the one who made it happen. We hooked up again at the new Wells and officed on the same floor until I retired in 2011. We shared many golf and hunting stories. He was truly one of the best.
We will miss his smile, his humor and friendship. We wish you and you son the best in these difficult days.

I can only reiterate what others have expressed. Paul was simply a good person. We joined GGG the same year 1987 and I enjoyed that bond for the follwing 20 or so. I will miss his smile, sense of humor and goodness. Also his cooking on Thursday nights at the GGG.

My condolences to the family.

Nothing can be said that will lessen the sadness of loosing Paul. I send my deepest condolences to his family knowing that the happy memories they have will provide them with comfort.

I knew Paul at the bank but got to know him as a friend at our GGG golfing adventures. What other have said is so true – he was a gentleman in the real sense of the word; he did exemplify what is the best in being a sportsman and …. he was fun to be with. I don't think I ever heard him complain, even when I was drawn as his partner at GGG. Well that is not entirely true … he did moan at having to squeeze into the infamous GGG “Yellow Jacket” after winning the championship.

You will missed by us all

Our deepest sympathies go out to Gina, Jon and Paul's family. Paul, a great friend and teammate as we worked and played together for over 25 years will be missed. Paul's family was his number one prority as we shared keeping each of us up to date during the years. Didn't get to hunt with Paul but we always updated each other on our success or lack of success each year. Paul will be missed but he left us with great memories that will be remembered. Paul was a very special person to us. His team members at Wells Fargo and his long time customers will all miss Paul.
