Roger Glover Obituary

Roger Owen Glover

July 15, 1946

February 3, 2013

Roger Glover, 66, of Reno, Nevada passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, February 3 in the loving arms of his wife, Brenda, and son, Ryan by his side. Roger was born in London, England to Geoffrey and Hilda Glover moving to America at the early age of seven. Roger learned the value of hard work and perseverance early on which helped him work his way through college in Lincoln, Nebraska and earning his Masters at the University of Denver. He then was hired by the State of Nevada as a clinician for the rural mental health program. He later served as the Director for Rural Clinics which provided mental health services to the rural counties in Northern Nevada. His love for adventure, building things, and going fast propelled him into motor sport racing in his first race boat in 1973. This new found love for racing boats launched him into his new career and living the American Dream of owning his own business. Partnering up with his brother, Chris, they began a boat shop to help fuel his racing career. Custom Boat & Marine has been a fixture in Northern Nevada for over 35 years employing hundreds of people over the years and passing his strong work ethic to many people who have even gone on to open their own businesses. As a husband, son, father, brother, and grandfather he lived his life to the fullest and led by example of hard work, discipline, and moral ethics. He expected nothing less than 100% and offered nothing less. His example will be appreciated for generations to come. His love for adventure led him on worldly travels with his beloved wife, Brenda. His love for speed teamed him up with his brother in the early boat racing days, and later with his son traveling all over the US and Canada racing boats professionally. Once his fix for speed on the water was cured he moved to the asphalt racing his Formula Atlantic race car always seeking that extra half second off his lap times. Of course, there was still more to be tamed as he took the racing off road in the desert of Baja, Mexico. Roger is survived by his wife, Brenda, son Ryan (LaTricia), granddaughters Bradianne and Karolyn, father Geoffrey, brother Chris (Kathy) and nephews Michael Glover and Christopher Moore. There will be no ceremony at this time and per Roger's wishes his ashes will be spread in all the wonderful places he enjoyed. Roger will be missed by all those who knew him and a special thank you to Dave and Julie who were always there for him.

Your Obit is perfect and it is soooo you-the love of your family shines thru in their words. You'll be missed, there is not doubt it, but knowing that you not longer have to suffer brings relief. Roger, you were a once in a lifetime for me. I have never forgotten all the training and lessons you gave me. There just aren't adequate words to describe the hollow emptiness inside me knowing that Roger will not be with his family and the countless friends he made over a lifetime. He will forever have a place in my memory as a true man who put more into life and demanded more from life than one can imagine. He left his mark on me and my family and for that I can only say thank you. Rest in peace my friend....you have certainly earned it.
