Walter (Gene) Everhart passed away August 27, 2015 at Renown Hospital in Reno, NV. He was born to Ethel Everhart on Nov. 25, 1928 in Bellwood, PA and raised by his grandparents Walter & Emma Everhart. After high school he moved to Rahway, New Jersey and became an Off Set Pressman at Merck & Co. where he met Josephine Dombrowski. They married and Gene joined the US Army. After starting a family Gene left the army and settled down in Reno, NV, working for Velvet Dairy. Gene continued his service to his county with the Army Reserves. He retired after a total of 18+ years as a Major. Gene & Josephine had four children, Sandra, Ronald, Cheryl and Todd. Gene was a great breakfast cook and barbecuer, enjoyed taking his children fishing on the Truckee River (he cooked delicious trout) and playing pool with his friends at the Rock Bar. He got divorced, retired from Meadowgold Dairy and married Betty Dunagin. They settled down in Sparks, NV.
Gene loved gardening, traveling to visit friends and family, animals of all kinds (he was especially fond of cats), crossword puzzles, (which kept his mind sharp), music (his collection of 8-track tapes was extensive) watching old TV shows and people. Gene (Geno to his friends) was a people person. From the casino folks on his milk route long ago to current neighbors and friends, he loved talking with people and telling stories. He was a wonderful story teller with a great sense of humor. Most of all Gene loved his family. If his children or grandchildren were ever in trouble and asked for help he would do his best to be there for them.
He is survived by Josephine, children, Sandra, Ron (Karen), Cheryl (Joe), and Todd (Jodi); grandchildren, Tiffany(Victor), Denise (Paul), Keith(Andrea), Chris, Alex, Joe and Sam; great grandchildren, Jessica (Mike), Fernando, Victor, Keiren, Alyssa, Austin, and Ashlyn; great great grandchildren, William and Jane; step daughters Diane (son Danny), and Debbie.
Gene is at peace and free from pain. He is buried at Logan Valley Cemetery in Bellwood, PA between his grandparents Walter & Emma.
