Gertrude Hartley

Warwick - Gertrude (Rousselle) Hartley, 91, formerly of Pike Street, West Warwick, died Friday, June 22, 2018 at the Brentwood Nursing Home in Warwick. She was the beloved wife of Edward E. Hartley and of the late Peter P. Nobriga.

Born in Pawtucket she was raised by Telesphore and Josephine (Lamontagne) Rousselle. Residing in the Phenix area she was a lifetime communicant of Our Lady of Good Counsel parish. Her skill and creative gift for crochet and handmade items allowed her to make knit hats for the newborns at Women and Infants Hospital. She enjoyed music with singing and dancing. A favorite date with Ed on Saturday nights was dancing at the Post in East Greenwich.

Gertrude was kind and generous in spirit. She suffered physical pain and disappointments but smiled and held strength and forgiveness in heart.

In addition to her husband, Ed, of 45 years, she is survived by two daughters: Betty Ann Corsetti (husband Paul) of Wakefield and Joyce Marie Nobriga (late spouse Loretta Marsico) of Coventry; two grandsons: West Warwick Police Detective Jonathan Peter Izzi (wife Christina) of Cranston and Christopher Paul Izzi of Coventry and two great grandchildren: Nathan Christopher Izzi and Bianca Rose Izzi.

She was the sister of the late Arthur Rousselle, Louis George Rousselle and Marie Rose Parenteau-Marrone.

Her family and friends will gather for calling hours on Saturday, June 30 from 9:30 – 10:30 at Carpenter-Jenks Funeral Home & Crematory, 659 East Greenwich Avenue, West Warwick followed by a mass of Christian burial celebrated at 11:00 am at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, Pleasant Street, West Warwick. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, West Warwick.
