Joan M. Thacker

Joan M. Thacker, age 83, died peacefully at West Shore Health Center, Warwick, RI, surrounded by her loving family on Monday October 1, 2018. Born in Providence RI, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Beatrice Houle. She was the beloved wife of the late Fred R. Thacker. 
Mrs. Thacker worked at the Coventry Health Center for ten years in the activities where she enjoyed helping the elderly. She loved the beach and the ocean but was most passionate about sailing and competing in sailboat races with her husband. Joan possessed a heart of caretaking and hospitality and was most happy when surrounded by her friends and family. She was the mother of Steven Cox of Vermont, David Cox of RI and Bobby Cox of Maine. Besides her sons, she leaves behind her loving stepdaughters: Patricia Burns of Warwick, Linda Gil of Warwick, the late Darlene Farrell ME, and Judith Durand of Seekonk, MA. She was the loving grandmother of Jessica Moynihan, Elizabeth Ugarte, Tonya and Rosheen Farrell, Thomas Monahan, Taylor Durand, 4 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.  
A Memorial Service to celebrate her life will take place on Friday, October 12, 2018 at Sacred Exchange Fellowship 75 Division Street East Greenwich, RI.
