John J. Conroy Jr.

CUMBERLAND, RI- John J. Conroy Jr., 84, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 4, 2025 surrounded by his family and devoted friend Eddie. He was the beloved husband of the late Muriel (Tondreault) Conroy.

Born in Pawtucket, John formed lifelong friendships with Eddie Breault and Bob Powers. The trio shared a special bond from a young age, spending their early years together in lighthearted, and at times mischievous, adventures that remained cherished memories throughout their lives. He was a proud graduate of Saint Raphael Academy and Providence College. In 1968, John and Muriel began a new chapter when they moved to Cumberland, where they would raise their family and build a life among neighbors and friends who became like family. He deeply cherished time spent with his two sisters, Bea and Mae. Also known by many as "Joe" he was an avid follower of PC Friars basketball and had a lifelong appreciation for classic and luxury automobiles. With Muriel, he enjoyed frequently and routinely visiting local restaurants in Cumberland and Narragansett, which led to being warmly welcomed and forming many close friendships.

John was the president and owner of Medical Knitted Structures in Pawtucket for many years, where he took great pride in his work and found deep purpose in providing for his family. His lifelong commitment and passion for the textile industry led to being a well respected member of that community. In addition he was active in the Southern New England Textile Association, a former board member of Slater Mill

and a longtime member and past president of the Cumberland Kiwanis Club.

He is survived by his loving children, Patricia Walsh and her husband Timothy, John Conroy III and his wife Sheila, and Kristen Lagasse and her husband Jeffrey; his cherished sisters, Beatrice Sylvestre and Mary Yeghian; and his beloved grandchildren, Marissa Tomasetti and her husband Stephen, Jared Walsh, Meredith Walsh and her fianc Jack Camus, Ashley Conroy, Caitlin Conroy, Cole Lagasse, Ryan Lagasse, and Tyler Lagasse. He also leaves behind two adored great-grandchildren, Shae and Hallie Tomasetti as well as many treasured nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to Visiting Hours on Friday, July 11, 2025 from 9:00 - 11:00 AM followed by a Funeral Service at 11:00 AM at O'Neill Funeral Home, 3102 Mendon Road, Cumberland. Burial will be at Resurrection Cemetery.
