Robert Tougas Obituary

Robert Eugene Tougas, 89, passed away on August 1, 2018. Robert was the beloved husband of Barbara Celia ( Mulvaney ) Tougas. Born in Pawtucket Rhode Island he was the son of the late Omer and Edna Tougas.
He was a proud member of the Marine Corps, beginning in 1948 until discharge in 1962. Dad attended Providence College where he earned his Bachelor of Arts in Education in 1951 and served in the Korean War as a Captain in 1951 and 1952 as well as a recipient of the Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal and National Defense Medal. He was a football player for the Providence Steamrollers and All Marine Football, and coached football at Sacred Heart Academy in Central Falls.
He was a successful businessman for over 45 years. Dad enjoyed sports, reading, going to the beach, working around the house and yard, but most of all spending time with his family.
Robert is survived by his siblings Edna Therese Leddy & Richard Tougas, five daughters; Robin L. Holland and her husband Chris, Karen M. Tougas, Kim Tougas, Babs Wells and her husband Tim and Michelle A. Leduc and her husband Paul, ten grandchildren; Spencer, Jessica, Sarah, Bob, Amanda, Drew, Tim, Alex, Paul and Remy, six great grandchildren; Arwen, Chase, Miller, Cortland, Summer and Miles. Robert was one of 5 children.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday August 10th at 11:00 am at Our Lady of Mercy Church, 65 Third St., East Greenwich. Burial with military honors will be in the RI Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. Calling hours: Thursday August 9th from 5-7 pm at the Hill Funeral Home, 822 Main St., East Greenwich. In lieu of flowers, donation to the West View Nursing Center Staff, who lovingly took care of Dad, will be greatly appreciated.
