ROGER A. NORTON

ROGER A. NORTON Roger Avery Norton, age 85, passed away December 22, 2024, in Sigurd, Utah. He was born January 31, 1939, in Pierre, South Dakota, the only child of Samuel Allen and Loucele Dyson Norton He spent his childhood moving between South Dakota and Montana eventually attending high school in Kalispell, Montana. While in Glasgow, Montana met Bonnie Anitra Cotton, and they married in 1961. Roger and Bonnie had two sons, Ross Allen Norton and Jay Thomas Norton. His wife Bonnie passed away in 1984 as well as his oldest son Ross. Roger was a saddle bronc rider in the rodeo for a few years in his late teens to early twenties. He was a heavy machine operator working on dams and bridges in Montana and Alaska. Roger and his youngest son Jay, moved to Spokane, Washington in 1988, where he worked at Wanapum Dam. Roger retired in 1994 and pursued his favorite hobby of team roping. While retired Roger lived on various ranches in Washington and Idaho as a caretaker of the ranch. Roger eventually moved to Nevada in 2010 where he continued to work on ranches and pursue his passion of team roping. He eventually settled in Nevada with his good friend and fellow team roper Shawn Hall. Roger lived there for many years and was cared for and looked after by Shawn. When Roger's health declined, he moved to Southern Utah to again be cared for by his good friend Shawn Hall. Roger was loved by his family and friends. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. Roger is survived by his son, Jay Norton and his two grandchildren, Jay Thomas Norton II and Bonnie Acacia Norton.
