STEVEN CHRISTENSEN Obituary

STEVEN CHRISTENSEN Steven M Christensen was born March 21, 1944 to Ray and Zenna Christensen in Richfield, Utah. He grew up in Elsinore, Utah, and worked hard on his father's farm. He spent many days playing with his buddies, especially in the hills west of Elsinore. Steve has always had a love for horses. As a child, he began riding his father's work horses. When Steve was six, his father bought him his first horse. He and his friends rode whenever they had free time. He loved baseball, basketball, and wrestling. Steve joined the Elsinore Riding Club and competed for many years in numerous events throughout Utah. These competitions instilled the "rodeo spirit" that Steve has passed on to his five children and twenty-five grandkids. He had a love of race horses and owned and trained many throughout the years. He had an eye for a good horse and knew how to pull these off the track to train as competitive horses in barrel racing and other rodeo and riding club events. Steve was a generous person and gave away numerous horses to adults and kids so they could foster a love for horses and have a horse to ride. Steve was mentored by a friend, a true American cowboy, who taught him how to rope and work cattle at home and on the range. Steve took on his friend's herd and ran the stock for several years while managing his farm and other jobs. Steve enjoyed riding and rode almost every day until his health wouldn't allow it. His last ride was thirty miles and nearly killed him, but he loved every minute of it. Steve married Lorraine Barnson, on Aug. 27, 1963. They had three children together. Scott V. (Penney) Christensen, Stephanie Christensen (Keisel), Ryan J. Christensen (Randy S. Gunter). They later divorced. He married Madelyn Buchanan Ogden on June 24, 1983. She brought Rock James Ogden (Jana) into the family. They later had a baby girl together, Katie Marie Christensen (Greg) Torgerson. Steve ran Steve's Café and Gas Station, and Garage. Known as Eat at Steve's and Get Gas. Steve loved his customers and helped them with all their needs. Steve may best be known for Steves Steakhouse, which he and his wife owned and operated for many years, emphasizing the cowboy spirit and atmosphere. A beef supplier once said, "He's the pickiest man I know, but he really knows his meat." His daughter Katie is promulgating the legacy through the food and service. His priorities in life were Family, Religion, and Horses. He is survived by his five children, 2 brothers, one sister, and his wife, Madelyn. Funeral services will be held Monday, August 18, 2025, at 1:00 pm in the Richfield 1st Ward Chapel, 1040 South 400 West, Richfield, Ut.
