Arthur C. Elmquist, 90, of 6 Center St., Ridgway, died Saturday, Oct. 3, 2015 at his residence.
He was born Feb. 8, 1925 in Renova, son of the late Carl S. and Lucy (Russell) Elmquist.
He had resided in Ridgway for most of his life and was a member of the American Legion. Art enjoyed spending time at the Senior Center playing cards. He served in the U.S. Navy and was a veteran of WWII. He had been employed by Motion Control Industries and by Clarion Sintered Metals.
He is survived by the following grandchildren: Jennifer (Robert) Johnson of Johnstown, Christopher Kallin of Seattle, Wash., Mariah (Jody) Dieker of Ardmore, Okla., Melody Elmquist of Johnstown and Zach Elmquist of Ridgway; six great-grandchildren, Matthew Johnson, Lyza Johnson, Jacob Johnson, Evan Dieker, Callie Dieker and Grace Kallin.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a grandson, Russell Elmquist; a great-grandson, Jack N. Johnson; and his 11 brothers and sisters.
Funeral and Committal Services for Arthur C. Elmquist will be held Tuesday, Oct. 6 at noon at the Thompson Funeral Home with military honors accorded by the Ridgway Servicemen's Burial Detail. Officiating will be Rev. Roger A. Peterson, pastor of the Trinity United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Parklawn Memorial Gardens.
Friends will be received at the Thompson Funeral Home on Tuesday, Oct. 6 from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at noon.
Memorials, if desired, may be made to the Ridgway Senior Center.
