Janet Johnson Obituary

Janet L. Johnson, 96, of 227 Irving Ave., Ridgway, died Tuesday morning, July 5, 2016 at her residence following an illness of the past four months.
She was born Feb. 10, 1920, in Ridgway, daughter of the late Albert and Minnie (Streich) Huggler.
She married Earl J. Johnson on May 1, 1947, he preceded her in death on July 4, 2000. She had resided in Ridgway all of her life and was a member of the Evangelical Covenant Church. She had been a Sunday School teacher at the church for many years. Janet was a 1938 graduate of the Ridgway High School and also a graduate of the Jamestown Business College. She had been employed by the Elliott Company, Sylvania, and by Fritz Johnson Sons Painting and Decorating.
She is survived by two daughters, Rebecca M. Warnick of Williamsburg, Va., Bonnie M. Pistner of St. Marys; one son William E. Johnson of Ridgway; one granddaughter Janet (Rob) Kondakor of Mechanicsville, Va.; two great-grandchildren Elek (Kristin) Kondakor, and Josh Kondakor; one great great-grandchild Mariska Kondakor; one brother Robert (Arbutus) Huggler of Belair, Md., and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son-in-law Robert Pistner; three brothers Albert, Andrew, and John Huggler; six sisters Ann Van Horn, Rose Steger, Ida Popiel, Margaret Hemke, Bertha Horning and Lucy Brink.
A Memorial Service for Janet L. Johnson will be held at the Evangelical Covenant Church on Saturday at 11 a.m. Officiating will be Rev. Craig W. Duffield, Pastor of the Evangelical Covenant Church. Burial will be in Oakmont Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Memorials, if desired, can be made to the Evangelical Covenant Church or to the Community Nurses, Inc. Hospice Program. Church was central to the life of Janet Johnson, especially during the Christmas and New Years seasons. It is only fitting that I light a candle in her memory. I have fond memories of Christmas Eve candlelight services with her and this is a fitting tribute to her.
