Charles Ingram Obituary

Charles Ingram, 77, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 30, 2016.
Charlie was a long time resident of Harriman, but lived, traveled and worked all over the world. He was born in Bluefields, Nicaragua, and completed grade school and high school there. Charlie then came to the U.S. and obtained a bachelor of science in electrical engineering from Christian Brothers College in Memphis. Charlie became a highly recognized research and design electronics engineer, obtaining multiple patents and accolades in many industries during his career. These include, of particular significance, (1) receiving Inspection and test of semiconductors and other electronic components for NASA Marshall Space Flight Center; (2) state of the art advanced systems and components for air conditioning control systems for new automobiles: (3) Systems and components necessary for the stable operation of the Department of Energy's Centrifuge Uranium Enrichment machines; and (4) advanced systems for the conversion of waste to energy. He also became a naturalized citizen.
Charlie was a member and active deacon of Riverside Baptist Church in Harriman. He was a highly respected Bible teacher and an accomplished musician, always willing to fill in on organ or piano. He was a devoted husband to his wife Joyce for 51 ½ years and the proud father of his two sons, Chuck and Patrick, raising them by example of how to be a loving husband and father. Charlie enjoyed hunting, camping and fishing and watching the University of Tennessee sports. He was an avid tennis player and student of the game. His main challenge was to maintain his game on the same level as Joyce. His grandchildren could always depend on his help with their homework. He was a patient man and was seldom seen to be anxious for trivial things. We will miss you, Charlie.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother Ludwig and Sister Helen.
He is survived by wife, Joyce Ingram; sons, Chuck (Nancy) Ingram, Patrick (Tabitha) Ingram; sisters, Norma De Miller and Elma Monty; grandchildren, Lisa, Kristy, Nick, Amanda, Katie, Mary, Baldwin, Jennifer, Hannah and Delaney; and several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, July 5, at Riverside Baptist Church in Harriman. Funeral services will follow at 8 p.m. with Jasper Greg Kelly and Mason Goodman officiating. Interment will be in Roane Memorial Gardens at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 6. The family requests memorial donations be made to the family life center at Riverside Baptist Church. Kyker Funeral Home in Harriman is serving the Ingram family. www.kykerfuneralhomes.com
