Jimmy Burum

Jimmy Burum, 66, of Harriman, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2012, in Roane Medical Center.
He was born Nov. 2, 1945, to the late Mary Alice Burum and James Thurston Daniels. He was employed with Norfolk Southern for 23 years until his retirement in 1992. His hobbies included hunting, fishing and gardening; he was also an excellent carpenter. He was very supportive of his family and friends throughout his life. He will be most remembered for his work ethic, honesty, truthfulness and his love for others.
Along with his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Burum; two brothers, William and Donald Burum; a sister, Rebecca Burum; aunts, Deane Burum, Margaret Griffin and Annette Cozart; and uncles, William "Babe," Joe, Frank, Leon and James Vest and Thomas Burum.
He is survived by a devoted companion, Sharon Davis; two sons, James and wife Rholonda Burum, Knoxville, and Bryson and wife Cassey Burum, Harriman; five daughters, Sherrie and husband Milton Martin, Kingston, Jamesa Burum, Rockwood, Shannon Davis, Shavonda Newton and Shawna Griffin; his grandchildren, James, Isaiah, Jace, Naomi, Whitley, Molly, Wisdom, Jerelijah, Shanta, Ladaisha, Terryanuna and Authur; three brothers, Luther Burum, Oak Ridge, Jess Burum, Oliver Springs, and Carl Daniels, Cleveland, Ohio; a sister, Frances Burum, Oak Ridge; as well as other family, friends and loved ones.
The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 13, in Davis Funeral Home, Harriman, and from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 14, in Little Leaf Baptist Church, Oliver Springs. Funeral services will follow at the church at 1 p.m., with Pastor William Caldwell officiating. Burial will follow at Roane Memorial Gardens, Rockwood.
