Amanda Marie Weekly Horn, 33, of Roanoke, left this world for a better place on August 5, 2013, in Roanoke.
Amanda was born in Roanoke to Charlotte Lester and Rick Weekly on February 28, 1980. She went to high school at Cave Spring and graduated in 1998. She enjoyed every minute she spent with her son, Evan, taking him to the park, to the Transportation Museum, and to Tappahannock to visit Amanda's beloved sister, Julie Weekly Brooks. Amanda had a child's passion for life and loved blowing bubbles with her precious son. She also had a passion for her orchids and jewelry making.
Amanda had a love for people, she would say that everyone she met had a kindred spirit and only saw kindness in all people. For those of us she leaves behind, she was our sunshine, our butterfly, our light.
Amanda is survived by her son, Evan Horn, of Salem; her husband, Rob Horn, of Salem; her father, Rick Weekly and his wife, Patty, of Elliston; her mother, Charlotte Lester and her husband, Terry, of Ferrum; her beloved sister, Julie Brooks and her husband, Mitchell Brooks and their sons, Max Steorts and Peyton Brooks, of Tappahannock; her beloved baby brother, Joseph Weekly, of Elliston; her maternal grandmother, Mary Lindsay, of Ferrum; her paternal grandfather, Dan Weekley, of Roanoke; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins from Florida, North Carolina, Georgia and Texas.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Amanda Weekly Horn Memorial Fund for the educational benefit of Evan Robert Horn to Essex Bank, 1325 Tappahannock Blvd., Tappahannock, VA 22560. The family wishes to extend their gratitude for all of your prayers and to those of you that choose to contribute to her shining star, Evan.
Funeral services will be held at Valley Community Church in Roanoke County at 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 10, 2013, with the Reverend Velma Bullington of Valley Community Church officiating.
