Audrey Lavon Bashlor

Audrey Lavon Bashlor, 87, passed away on Wednesday, March 4, 2026.
Preceding her in death was her husband of 47 years, Lowell Dean Bashlor Sr. on July 29, 2007, and her son-in-law, Lowell von Egger.
She was born in Shenandoah, Va. on December 20, 1938. She went on to graduate from Shenandoah High School as Valedictorian. Audrey was hired after her high school graduation by the General Electric Company in Waynesboro as a Secretary on June 17, 1957. She became interested in transformer drafting and later printed wiring board design. Audrey moved to Waynesboro in 1959, later retiring from GE in Salem, Virginia in August of 1995, as a technical specialist in printed wiring board design, taking a seven-year break from 1967 to 1974 to be a stay-at-home mother.
During the Waynesboro years, she was active in Scouting starting Brownie Girl Scout Troop I; working with her husband's Cub Pack 73; and was the first woman committee member of Boy Scout Troop 44. Audrey was social chairman of Westminister Presbyterian (1970 to 1973) and taught third grade Sunday School.
Surviving is her daughter, Ann Marie Howard and son-in-law, Robert Lee Howard of Roanoke; her son, Lowell Dean Bashlor Jr. and daughter-in-law, Terri Bashlor of Roanoke; her stepdaughter, Martha Jean von Egger of Charleston, S.C.; grandson, Legend Howard of Roanoke; grandson, Steven von Egger (Hilary) of Greenville, S.C.; granddaughter, Stephanie Adams (Brendan Grady) of Maryland; and grandsons, Christopher von Egger of Nashville, Tenn. and Damian Adams (Ginger) of Atlanta, Ga.; her great-grandchildren, Kai Adams, Laine Grady, Lillian von Egger and Ryan von Egger.
A visitation will be held at Oakey's South Chapel on Friday, March 13, 2026, from 6 to 8 p.m. Refreshments will be served.
A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at Sherwood Memorial Park.
