Barbara Holdren Obituary

Barbara Ann Thomason Holdren, 67, of Vinton, Va., who was born December 14, 1941, went home to be with her Lord on Monday, January 5, 2009. She will be greatly missed by family and friends. Barbara endured a long battle with cancer yet she never complained or gave up hope. When asked how she was doing, her positive response was always, "Oh I'm feeling fine." God's Word says it best, "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith." 2 Timothy 4:7. Barbara loved people and never met a stranger. She also loved spending countless hours on her computer whether it was playing a favorite game or sending encouraging messages to friends. Barbara loved the Lord and was an encourager to many. She wrote several poems and loved passing them on to help encourage and strengthen others. Barbara is survived by two sisters, Dale Peverall and her husband, Albert Sr., of Vinton, and Janice Foster, of Nebraska. Others surviving are very special niece, Pat Childers, of Roanoke; along with other nieces, nephews and cousins; also a special friend, Louise Holdren. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. on Thursday, January 8, 2009, at Lotz Vinton Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Albert Peverall Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 7, 2009, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Arrangements by Lotz Funeral Home, Vinton Chapel.
