Donald E. Maxey

Donald E. Maxey, 70, of Roanoke, passed away Thursday morning, August 7, 2008. Donald served in the United States Navy, was retired from General Electric with 33 years service and worked with Roanoke City Schools with 30 years service. He was co-owner of Indian Ridge Camp Ground and was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond E. and Gladys F. Maxey. Surviving is his sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Robert (Bob) Thornhill, of Roanoke; his niece, Lisa Ann Thornhill, of Pompano Beach, Fla.; his nephews, Gary Thornhill and wife, Charlotte, of Roanoke, Darryl Thornhill, of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Mark Thornhill and wife, Angela, of Dallas, Texas; a great-niece, Lauren Thornhill, of Roanoke; and great-nephews, Stone and Knox Thornhill, of Dallas, Texas. A memorial service will be held 3 p.m. Sunday, August 10, 2008, at Oakey's South Chapel. The burial will be private. The family would like to thank Salem Health & Rehab staff, especially Sandy, Jennifer, Audrey, Ericka, Natasha, Kim and Linda for all their care and concern.
