Gary Perdue Obituary

Gary Dwight Perdue

Gary Dwight Perdue, age 75, of Union Hall passed away on Sunday, October 30, 2022.

Gary was a native of Franklin County, Va., and was a very hard worker who sacrificed greatly for his family. He had a 40 + year career in shift work at Dupont and finally retired from Sartomer. After his retirement, he jokingly did NOT like to hear the word "work." Gary was preceded in death by his father, Johnnie Perdue; his mother, Pauline Perdue; and his wife, Cynthia (Cindy) Hammock Perdue.

Gary and Cindy will finally be reunited after 15 years to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary in heaven. Gary was a very proud father and even prouder grandfather with his two surviving children, Shanna Leigh Dye and her husband, Joshua Dye and Landon William Perdue, and his wife, Marguerite Perdue; and his four surviving grandchildren, Kayleigh Dye, Gage Dye, Olive Perdue, and Wynn Perdue. Gary was the eldest of three children and is survived by his sister, Phylis Perdue Bende, and her husband, Skip Bende, and his best friend and brother, Jeffrey Mark Perdue, and his wife, Wanda Perdue. Gary is also survived by his confidant and late wife's sister, "Shorty" Susan Hammock Galliher, and her husband, Ron Galliher.

All the family requests are thoughts and prayers in lieu of food and flowers.

The family invites you to celebrate Gary's life on Sunday, November 6, 2022, starting with a visitation at 1 p.m. at Flora Funeral Home in Rocky Mount, Va., followed by service at 2 p.m. After the service, the family invites you to join them at the Franklin Memorial Cemetery burial site.
