Herbert Covey Obituary

Herbert Sadler Covey, 85, of Somerset, Ky., and formerly of Pulaski, died Friday November 23, 2007 at his Kentucky residence. He was born November 15, 1922 in Pulaski County, Va. and was the son of the late Elizabeth Sadler Covey and Jesse R. Covey. He was a retired area supervisor for Western Electric, was a member of the Cave Spring United Methodist Church in Roanoke, and a former member of the Mt. View United Methodist Church, Pulaski Co., Va. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Kathleen Surber Covey, his second wife, Lucille Turner Covey, and a brother, Jesse R. Covey, Jr. He is survived by two sons, Stephen S. Covey and his wife Judy of Somerset, Ky., and Robert "Drake" Covey and his wife Karen of Lynchburg; three brothers, Raymond E. Covey of Dublin, Earl S. Covey and his wife Doris Ann of Dublin, and Jerry J. Covey of Dublin; two sisters, Elisabeth Collins in Scottsboro, Ala. , and Margaret Brewer of Roanoke. Also survived by five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Tuesday November 27, 2007 at 11 a.m. at the Mt. View United Methodist Church with the Rev. Bill Schoeneman officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday at Thomas M. Seagle & Sons from 6 until 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in the form of donations to the American Cancer Society 2840 Electric Road, Suite 106-A Roanoke, Virginia 24018.
