Jan Moses Obituary

Jan L. Moses, 50, a missionary, was promoted to heaven Thursday, February 8, 2007. Memorial service was held at 4 p.m. on Monday, February 12, 2007 at Birchman Baptist Church. Burial was a private family committal. Memorial gifts may be made in Jan's honor to the International Mission Board, S.B.C., Box 6767, Richmond, Va. 23230. Jan was born December 31, 1956 in Richmond, Va. to Bill and Betty Joness. She graduated valedictorian of her high school class and received a B.S. in Biology at the University of Virginia in 1979. After working for three years in Georgia with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, the Lord called Jan to prepare for missionary service. She moved to Fort Worth, where she attended Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. While there, she met Mark Moses and they married December 31, 1983. Jan and Mark were appointed as missionaries with the Southern Baptist International Mission Board in December 1985, and served 19 years in the Philippines. Jan was a dedicated mother, home-schooling all five of her children. She was an encourager who loved people and enjoyed life. She was faithful to hide God's word into her mind and heart. Her passion was leading people into a deeper relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ. During the past three years, she courageously battled melanoma cancer. Jan chronicled her "cancer adventure" at www.caringbridge.com/tx/moses
Survivors include her husband, Mark Moses; children, David, Sara, Hannah, Martha and Jonathan; brothers, Wynn Joness and his wife, Eva, and their children, Rachael and Lauren, and Wayne Joness and his wife, Mie; father, Dr. William (Bill) Joness; stepmother, Judy Joness; stepbrothers, Jonathan Parsons and his wife, Flo, and Seth Parsons; and brother-in-law, Steve Moses and his wife, Suzie, and their children, Lauren, Jerid and Lisa.

I was scanning the obituaries this morning when that contagious smile hit me. I went to the website listed and several quotes touched my heart. I am a Christian. We all enjoy hearing the reasuring words of other Christians. Thanks for touching my day.
