Joan Brammer Obituary

Joan Brammer

September 18, 1932 - January 30, 2025

Joan Shirley Clever Brammer was known as Joan, Mom, Grandma, or Great Grandma. Mrs. Brammer was a shining light of faith, fun and positivity to all. She was a long-time member of Rosalind Hills Baptist Church, Roanoke, VA before moving to Winston Salem, NC in 2012. She worked at C & P Telephone in Roanoke as a Directory Assistance Operator until her retirement. Joan was preceded in death by her husband Carlton F. Brammer of Roanoke, Virginia, her parents John and Pearl Clever of St. Clair Shores, Michigan and her brothers: John, Joseph, and sister Loretta. She is survived by brothers Robert Clever (Lynn), Chuck Clever, and sister Charlotte Dumka. She is also survived by her children: Michael Brammer (Caroll) of Pinehurst, NC, Cynthia Tomlinson (Ray) of Winston Salem, NC, and Phillip Brammer of Roanoke, VA; Grandchildren Melissa Abernathy (Phillip), Jennifer Ostman (Michael), Kellee Brammer, PJ Brammer, Reagan Tomlinson; and Great Grandchildren Connor Abernathy, Levi and Lily Ostman. The family will hold a private ceremony in Mrs. Brammer's honor at a later date. Anyone wishing to honor Mrs. Brammer may please send donations in her name to the agency who served her and others so well: Senior Services Meals on Wheels, 2895 Shorefair Drive, Winston Salem, NC 27105.
