Julia Walters Obituary

Julia Allison "Judy" Walters

January 15, 1943 - April 22, 2024

Julia Allison "Judy" Walters joined the love of her life Bobby Walters passing peacefully with her children by her side on April 22, 2024. Judy was a beloved mother to son Chris, (Elizabeth), Jennifer Walters, and Kathy (Ed) Sansom. She also was the loving and fun grandmother to Mary Corinne Walters, Sarah Kathryn Walters and Robert Elliot Walters.

A graduate of Mary Washington College, Judy taught countless children in fifth and second grades at Spiller Primary school and loved nothing better than to run into one of her students around town or hearing of their achievements throughout her life. She did not view the world through race, color or status-she only viewed the world with love. That love extended to every animal that she could possibly adopt and every plant that she could cultivate inside or out.

Judy was preceded in death by her parents T. Barclay, Sr. and Corinne Sexton Allison, and one brother T. Barclay Allison, Jr.

Survivors also include an extremely close group of sisters and brothers-in-law. Mrs. Betty Mallory, Mrs. Corinne Johnson and her husband Richard and Mrs. Frances Emerson and her husband Frank. These three musketeers still live within blocks of each other around Spiller Street in Wytheville. Her love also included the almost 60 year membership of the Wytheville Presbyterian Church where she was married, served will be remembered.

The family would like to thank Becky Green, Geree Brown, Seairra Kirby the caregivers at Senior Home Share for their love and devotion to her care during the last few difficult months. A gracious thank you also to Michelle Crawford and the staff of Wythe Hospice.

The family will receive friends and family at Wytheville Presbyterian Church Thursday, April 25 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. followed by a memorial service at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the Wytheville Presbyterian Church, 285 Church St, Wytheville, VA 24382 or Wythe Hospice of Southwest Virginia, 1155 N 4th St, Wytheville Virginia, VA 24382.
